Underglaze Chalk Crayons Tutorial

A way to use underglaze chalks on top of your glaze for a direct and interesting effect.

Supplies

  1. Gum Solution
  2. Underglaze Chalk Crayons
  3. LM-11 Opaque White

Glaze

Apply two coats of LM-11 Opaque White Matt glaze to tile. Let dry between coats.

Prepare Surface with Gum Solution

After the glaze is dry, apply two coats of gum solution. Allow each layer to dry thoroughly before applying the next.

Draw with Chalks

Begin creating your drawing on this surface. Chalks can be used directly, much like regular drawing materials.

Erase if needed

This surface even allows you to erase.

Fire

Once you have finished, fire the piece to Cone 05 to have a wonderful, permanent piece.
