Cone 05. These glazes provide the high brilliance of lustre. The end result is determined by the structure of the ware and the method of application. Lustre glazes can be used in conjunction with other glazes or by themselves. Lustre glazes can also be high fired to Cone 4-6 (2161°-2269°F, 1183°-1243°C) with fantastic results.

Black Onyx the exciting new Lustre Series glaze offers an elegant appeal to any cone 05 clay body. Black Onyx is a fluid glaze that loves texture and will exhibit a beautiful iridescence much like that of oil floating on water. The dark black color makes soft transitions to a deep cobalt blue where it breaks on texture. It is a perfect glaze for textured tiles.

Stir and mix Lustre glazes thoroughly. They should be the consistency of rich cream. If thinning is necessary, add a little water and AMACO® Gum Solution. Apply these glazes by brushing or sponging on a mature Cone 04 (1971°F, 1077°C) bisque. Fire to Cone 05 (1911°F, 1044°C). 

Lustre glazes are available in liquid form in 4 oz. jars.
