Glass Tools > Fiber Shelf Paper
A lightweight refractory material processed from high purity alumina-silica fibers. Ideal for use as a smooth separator when fusing glass on a flat shelf. Designs can be cut out of thicker fiber paper and used to fuse glass over it, creating relief patterns. Withstands temperatures up to 2300°F, 1260°C. Does not contain asbestos.
Kiln venting is necessary. These refractory fiber papers transform to cristobalite, a form of crystalline silica which may cause lung injury when heated above 1800°F (982°C). An approved respiratory mask is recommended.
