 NON-TOXIC In Moist Form

Dry only
Dry clays with CL seal are restricted
from use K-6 (ASTM D-4236/FHSA)
- Compounded of several clays selected for their plastic qualities, coarse fire-clay and grog for texture
- Suitable for throwing and all forms of hand modeling
- AP Non-Toxic in moist form
- CL labeled for safety in dry form
- Firing range of Cone 5-10 with best results at Cone 5
- When fired to Cone 5-6 in oxidation, bisque is a warm buff color peppered with dark spots similar to a reduced stoneware body. When reduction fired, No. 48 becomes a very dark brown.
- Any high fire Amaco® glaze is recommended for use with No. 48 clay. Light matte and transparent glazes allow the dark specks in the clay to show for a peppered effect. Partial glazing, underglazing and use of engobes also create interesting effects.

Preparing Dry Clays
Always mix dry clay in a closed polyethylene bag. Combine one pound of dry clay with four to five ounces of water or 28% water by weight. Expel air in the bag and tie opening securely with string. Knead until clay and water are mixed thoroughly. Aging 24 hours or longer improves plasticity.
Clay in moist form presents no hazard.
