Deadline for Postmarked Entries Has Passed.
Thank you for your entries. More contests to be announced in 2010.
We haver received dozens of entries from around the world and from artists of all ages! This design challenge showcases Friendly Plastic® Designer Sticks and Pellets and raises awareness for the Tolerance efforts of the Holocaust Museum Houston. This challenge was open to all ages with cash prizes and awards given in 4 simple categories that require use of at least 50% Friendly Plastic® in each entry. We are developing a larger international outreach ‘butterfly’ challenge in 2010 with a contest to bring together a community of children in honor of Tolerance. News to follow!
This is the second year that AMACO is honoring the 1.5 million children who perished in the Holocaust with a challenge category called “Butterflies.” These butterflies symbolize each child lost, and will be installed at the Holocaust Museum Houston Butterfly Project. Butterflies can still be made to send directly to the museum. Be sure to read the requirements for ‘butterflies’ (at the project link)—they must NOT be larger than 8” x 10” or have glitter or macaroni/perishables. We are collecting butterflies made with any medium at our CHA-Anaheim Booth #2409 in January for those crafters in attendance. Join Butterflies for Children on Facebook. If you haven’t heard by now, Friendly Plastic® is back by popular demand! Remember that glitzy, bright, shimmering metallic jewelry from the 80’s that crafters embellished with crystals, watch parts and beads?! It’s back by design, because creative women like Liz Welch and Jana Ewy kept it alive, then helped reignite it with the help of Linda Peterson, Jen Lowe and their countless on-line friends in the U.S., UK and Australia!
