Instructions:

Basic Beads:

1. Roll an amount of clay in the palm of hand to create a base bead. Repeat for at least 10 beads of different colors.

2. Flatten out Cloud Clay using brayer or bead roller. Cut out small shapes with cutters or flatten out clay and let air dry for approximately 30 minutes to an hour. Use hand punch to punch out decorative shapes or cut strips with scissors.

3. Apply shapes to bead where desired. Hint: moisten the shape lightly with water before applying it to bead to help it stick.

4. Create the hole with a toothpick. Apply gentle pressure as you drill the toothpick thru the bead.

5. Allow all beads to dry for at least 6 hours.

6. Add 2” to the circumference of wrist. Cut a piece of stretch cord to this length. String on beads. Double knot ends to secure.

7. To add additional width to the bracelet, create multiple strands of plain beads and string onto elastic cord. Mix and match bracelets or trade with friends.

Instructions

Prepare the clay
Stretch the Cloud Clay™ by pulling it over and over again. It stretches more and will become very pliable. This makes for a limber critter. If you wish to mix colors, now is the time to do so.

Make the basic shape
Roll the Cloud Clay™ into a basic creature shape. This creature is basically round so a ball is the starting point. If your creature is tall and skinny, roll a snake and if it is shaped like a pentagon, make a pentagon shape to start.

Add its features
From this basic shape, push, stretch and pull basic features such as mouths, tentacles, legs – whatever your creature desires.

Add the details
Give your creature its basic details. Mouth(s), eye(s), arms/tentacles, etc., -because a creature can never have too many (or too few) of anything.

Embellish!
Final touches give these creatures their winning personalities. Freckles, warts, cracked teeth - do whatever seems best for your unique creation. Pinch off little bits of clay or use scissors to fringe the clay. Fresh Cloud Clay™ sticks to dry Cloud Clay™; so if you think of something to add later, it’s easy to do. If your creature requires a special position to show its best side, prop it in that position until it’s dry – Cloud Clay™ holds its shape when dry.

How to mix colors:
To mix Cloud Clay™ colors, take the colors and mash them together. Pull the clay like taffy, stretching and folding until the color is mixed.

Step 1

Cut a rectangle of Friendly Plastic® ½” (width) by 1½” (height). Using the hole punch, punch a hole near the top in the middle. Cut a rectangle out of the wire mesh that is slightly larger than the Friendly Plastic® rectangle.

Step 2

Place the rectangle on baking sheet and insert into oven until plastic begins to soften. Remove pan and press mesh into rectangle while warm, making sure that most of the heated Friendly Plastic® comes up through the mesh. Try to align the top of the mesh so that it surrounds, but does not cover, the hole at the top. If it does cover the hole, you can carefully cut the mesh with scissors once the piece has cooled.

Step 3

Choose two rubber stamps with distinctive patterns. Press stamps lightly into ink and then stamp several times on a piece of scrap paper to remove most of the ink. Cut two small pieces of Friendly Plastic® (at least ½” square) or use a leftover scrap. Soften in oven. Press one stamp into oil, then into the softened Friendly Plastic®. Leave the stamp in until piece has cooled. Remove stamp. Repeat process with second stamp and second piece of Friendly Plastic®.

Step 4

Cut shapes from stamped Friendly Plastic®. The square measures 3/8″ and the heart is 3/4″.

Step 5

Glue shapes onto pendant. Let dry completely.

Step 6

If necessary, trim wire mesh so it does not extend beyond the base rectangle, so that it does not accidentally catch on clothing. Add a jump ring to the hole and string the pendant on a chain to wear.
