AMACO's 90th Reunion Party
More than 90 AMACO employees gathered for a pitch-in to celebrate our 90th Anniversary with a picnic and music on the lawn. The music was produced by employees Ron Ellis, Mark Klippel, Larry Kepner, Joe Roach, Mary Mahaney, Rhona Guinn, Gary Draper, and Rod Sprouse (whose mother Chris worked at AMACO up to her 80th birthday). As Chairman of the Board Bond Sandoe (55 years at AMACO) said, “We spend so much time with those with whom we work, that the ties to each other are stronger than we realize.”

With their dedication and commitment for 9 decades, we have become the most reliable source for teachers, potters and children in the ceramic industry. The spirit of creativity that our customers possess has driven us all to keep making, packing and shipping quality ceramic art products. Our customer service department and technical support staff are considered the best in the industry by our distributors. Our current Brent wheels were cited by recent visitor Mel Jacobsen of Clay Arts, as the best wheels ever made! We know our quality of glazes makes us not the cheapest, but the most trusted! Our colors give the most consistent and reliable results, which is what children and professional artists deserve. All of us share a pride in AMACO and that unites us in a mutual respect for our larger community. The mission, to place clay in the hands of children for their own self-discovery, of process and it’s been a privilege for the Sandoe family to have such a large family of employees support the vision started by the founder T.O. Philpott (Valri Sandoe’s father).
