AMACO Artists Showcase Talents at 44th Annual NCECA Conference
INDIANAPOLIS, IN–(Marketwire – March 31, 2010) – AMACO is heading to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this week for the annual National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) Conference. Popular AMACO artists will be on hand for demonstrations as attendees, artists and vendors celebrate ceramic arts around the theme of independence. This event will take place on March 31st through April 3rd, 2010 at the Philadelphia Convention Center. From wheel throwing to artist showcases, this year’s NCECA event marks the independent spirit embodied in artists past, present and future and is not to be missed.
Conference attendees can learn more about their favorite AMACO glazes with glaze demonstrations on two days by renowned artists Paul Andrew Wandless and Linda Arbuckle. With a focus on the versatility of clay, area schools, museums, galleries and universities have created exhibits from tableware to performance that showcase the full gamut of artistic possibilities with this material.
There will also be several throwing on a wheel demos with well-known AMACO artists such as Danny Meisinger, Mark Issenberg, Cathy Broski, and Nan Rothwell. Each artist will host demonstrations showing their skill on potter’s wheels. These informative demos aim to pass on first-hand knowledge to everyone from the skilled potter to the general public and inspire new artistic creations.
The city of Philadelphia provides the perfect backdrop for a conference centered on the theme of independence. The convention center is conveniently located in the city center and is in close proximity to the best nightlife, shops, restaurants and pubs. After a long day at the conference, exploring the cultural heritage of the city is a great way to unwind and meet fellow artists from across the United States and abroad.
NCECA is already looking for proposals for next year’s annual conference in Tampa, Florida in the areas of Aesthetics and Critical Theory, Art History, Education, Professionalism, Technology and New Work. The deadline for proposal submission is spring 2010, so there is still time to get involved in next year’s conference.
