Why Dotty McMillan Chose Her Charity Continued from front

Geisha Girl Bottle of Hope by Dotty McMillan, Best Use of Product Winner.

"...is an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center which is the highest level of recognition given by the National Cancer Institute. This means that they are conducting the most promising research as well as leading edge cancer treatment. I was a patient there for seven years, not for cancer however, but as a heart patient. They not only work with cancer but a huge variety of disease including heart problems. I was born with a malformed heart and had about six months to live when I was accepted as a patient in 1954. The surgery they did there was remarkable and gave me a chance to live a normal life. They are a research center as well as a treatment center and at that time, open heart surgery was just beginning to be done successfully. They did not charge me a single penny.

Thanks to my new life I have been able to write four novels and two polymer clay books as well as enjoy creating a wide variety of items using polymer clay. I love doing the Bottles of Hope and have won several awards for them. However, the best award of all is knowing that they will brighten the lives of people who are struggling to beat such a devastating disease as cancer."
