Step 1
Cut a rectangle of Friendly Plastic® ½” (width) by 1½” (height). Using the hole punch, punch a hole near the top in the middle. Cut a rectangle out of the wire mesh that is slightly larger than the Friendly Plastic® rectangle.
Step 2
Place the rectangle on baking sheet and insert into oven until plastic begins to soften. Remove pan and press mesh into rectangle while warm, making sure that most of the heated Friendly Plastic® comes up through the mesh. Try to align the top of the mesh so that it surrounds, but does not cover, the hole at the top. If it does cover the hole, you can carefully cut the mesh with scissors once the piece has cooled.
Step 3
Choose two rubber stamps with distinctive patterns. Press stamps lightly into ink and then stamp several times on a piece of scrap paper to remove most of the ink. Cut two small pieces of Friendly Plastic® (at least ½” square) or use a leftover scrap. Soften in oven. Press one stamp into oil, then into the softened Friendly Plastic®. Leave the stamp in until piece has cooled. Remove stamp. Repeat process with second stamp and second piece of Friendly Plastic®.
Step 4
Cut shapes from stamped Friendly Plastic®. The square measures 3/8″ and the heart is 3/4″.
Step 5
Glue shapes onto pendant. Let dry completely.
Step 6
If necessary, trim wire mesh so it does not extend beyond the base rectangle, so that it does not accidentally catch on clothing. Add a jump ring to the hole and string the pendant on a chain to wear. |
